My cases are finally done, and I am picking them up tomorrow. They were way fucked up by the last peron that had them. Had to heli coil two of the studs. Thanks shaw. I am kind of worried about getting this motor ready in time for the rally. I was super worried about getting an intake made in time. Finding the alum with the right bend for a 24 is a pain, but I think I may have tracked something down today. I will know for sure tomorrow. If that works out I will be a bit less worried.

The bike is going to stay in full freespirit rigid form (except for ebrs) for the rally. It will be ugly as hell , light as hell, and fast as hell. Prepared to be dusted (or partying in the chase van).

Found this video on Puch forum today. This bike is a VERY similiar set-up to what I will have. Wheelies rolling at 15 mph. Sick amounts of power. Got me way psyched to get this thing together.

I got my tank today, and its not going to work. Length wise, it looks to be about right, but height wise, I think it is too big. It would look funny. Besides that, the tank was in way worse shape than I expected. Not even worth the work it would take to use. Rusted through on the bottom. Completely rusted inside, stripped out gas cap…..

This pretty much ensures that this bike wont be ready for our rally. Which is a huge bummer. The motor will be ready, so maybe I will just ride it in freespirit form, and do the body mods after the rally. Dont really want to debut it that way, but dont really want this motor to sit there and not participate in the rally. bummed.

In other news, my cases are taking longer than expected. The studs on the kickstart motor were fucked up. Shaw told me I could just rethread and use Tomos studs since they are a thread bigger. Turns out the jackass before me fucked them up REAL bad, and a tomos stud wont even work. Shaw is working his magic to fix it though. Hopefully they will be done soon……I should give him a call.

bleh, bummed.

Bought a tank off ebay today. 15 bucks. Looks rad, but we will see how it fits. Theres another I am keeping an eye on as well.

My cases are done, but Shaw is in AZ for sausagefest. Hopefully I can pick them up wed or thursday and start building this motor.

I have a color scheme in mind, debating whether I am willing to throw down the bucks for powder coat or not. I am more of a go, than a show kinda guy. We’ll see.

This factor is really holding up the build cosmetically. I can’t seem to find on I like. I have a general tank. I can get a magnum tank, but I dont want this to have a typical moped look. I have been searching ebay for something, maybe off a small motorcycle, but I haven’t had any luck.

I cant really do anything to the bike, until I figure this out. Once I find a tank I like, I can weld the cross bar, build the seat, and get it painted up.

If you didn’t realize yet, I am building the rigid freespirit into a top tank. PT style. Don’t worry. I got Pat’s permission already. This is another reason I dont want to use the magnum tank (the best looking option so far). It would be way too close to the same thing he did.

I will continue searching….

No, I will not be keeping it completely rigid. I have some ebr’s that I will throw on there. I am a bit worried that all the chrome of the ebr’s will throw off the look of the bike. We’ll see.

Thanks to Benji for the kit, pipe, crank, and elusive HPI. Thanks to Roald for the kickstart three shoe clutch. Came all the way from the Netherlands.

I stole the blue springs from the 3 shoe cluth to put in my magnum still this guy is ready. Hopefully I will have some Paz springs by then.

All this is going on an e50 kickstart motor. No pics of the motor yet, cause it has already been split. I was going to do all the case work myself originally, but do to the somewhat rareness of the motor, and the amount of money spent on parts for this thing, I want to make sure it is done right, so I think I am going to hand my cases over to the Guru (Shaw).
